The following features vary depending on the chosen hosting plan:
The following features are included with every plan:
Space: Space refers to the total amount of disc space that you are allotted on our server. This includes site files, email, databases and log files.
Bandwidth: The amount of
incoming and outgoing traffic that you create on the server. When visitors hit
your site, they are using some of your bandwidth. A heavily graphically oriented
site will use much more bandwidth than a site that is mostly text. Bandwidth
includes e-mail and FTP traffic as well. For the average site, the limits set
for each of our plans is more than enough.
Note: You may have heard of web hosts offering
unlimited bandwidth. This simply is not accurate and should raise suspicion.
MySQL Databases: A relational database used for a variety of reasons. Many bulletin boards, content management systems, shopping carts, and other common scripts require the use of a MySQL database.
Subdomains:A subdomain is a name that resides under your domain name and is used mainly to organize your site. For example, support.interbax.net is a subdomain of the domain interbax.net. A separate directory is created for the subdomain, in this case called "support". Basically it can be treated as a section of the whole site. Many people use subdomains because they like the look of support.interbax.net over something like www.interbax.net/support.
Own IP (Dedicated IP): An IP address that is associated only with your account. Most of our accounts share an IP address; accounts that use their own SSL certificate or anonymous FTP will need a dedicated IP.
Anonymous FTP: With anonymous FTP you have the ability to give people access to your files without requiring them to identify themselves. Anyone that visits the anonymous FTP section of your site can download/upload files.
Capability to use your own SSL:
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) allows the secure transmission of content from a
visitors browser to the server. A certificate is used to verify that the people
who are accepting the content are who they say they are. Each certificate is
associated with only one domain name.
All of our customers are welcome to use our SSL certificate, but most e-commerce
sites will want to use their own. The difference is the name on the certificate
and how your URL will look. Using our SSL the URL will need to start with interbax.net
instead of your domain name.
The following are included with every plan.
Website Control Panel: The control panel is an area for our customers to manage their accounts. Almost all of your account features can be accessed and managed at your control panel: email, FTP, users, password protect directories, file manager, statistics, and much more.
100 User Accounts: You will create user accounts when you want an individual to have access to certain services on your domain. The most common use is for separate email accounts, but you can also allow your users to upload files to their own directory using FTP or FrontPage. Each users site pages can be viewed at: http://yourdomain.com/~user. Every user on your domain will have his/her own username and password to login to their own control panel.
100 Email Accounts: An email account is a POP box with a separate username and password from the main account. One e-mail account can accommodate multiple email aliases.
Web Based Email: Every plan comes with the option of using webmail for their email requirements. Web based email allows the site administrator and users to access their email by logging into their control panel, making it possible to check, send, and receive email from any Internet connection.
Email Forwarding: The ability to automatically forward all e-mail sent to your address to another address. The forwarding address does not have to be one on our servers; it may be an outside address such as a hotmail account.
Unlimited Email Aliases: An email alias is a method of mapping a nickname to an actual email address. You can map aliases to: Mailboxes on your site's mail server, outside email addresses, and other aliases. Whenever someone sends email to an alias at your site, the message is sent to all of the actual email addresses mapped to the alias. For example, you could create an alias for your Sales department called sales. When anyone sends email to sales@<example.com>, the message is delivered to all of the mailboxes, addresses, and other aliases mapped to sales.
Email Responders: A responder is a method of automatically replying to incoming email. Responders can be set up for aliases only. They cannot be set up for individual email addresses or mailing lists. Whenever anyone sends email to the alias, a prepared reply is automatically returned to the sender.
100 FTP Accounts: File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a way of exchanging files between computers. You will use FTP to upload/download your files to/from our server. With multiple FTP accounts you have the option of allowing other users to upload/download from only certain areas of your site.
Mailing List: Mailing lists are lists of email recipients that can receive email as a group. When you create a mailing list, messages sent to the mailing list email address are automatically sent to every email address on the list. Mailing lists are commonly used to circulate topic discussions. A mailing list includes a set of list members. Whenever a list member posts an email message to the mailing list email address, that email message is distributed to all list members.
Website Statistics: From time to time, it is useful to check the performance of your Web and FTP servers to be sure Web site visitors are not encountering access problems and also to gauge the success of your Web site in the marketplace. Statistical activity reports are available for both the Web server and the FTP server. By default Webalizer is installed on every account, but you can also request Analog.
SSH: Secure Shell (SSH) is the ability to log on to your account on our server, allowing you to work directly as a user on the system. SSH is usually used by more advanced users that understand Linux/UNIX commands.
Parked Domains: Domain names that resolves to your main domain name. A parked domain can not have its own web site files and e-mail sent to the domain will go to the default main account e-mail. Each account can have an unlimited number of parked domains.
FrontPage 2000/2002 Extensions: Extensions that are installed in your directory on the server. These are only needed by people that are using FrontPage to develop their site. Without them, many features will not work properly.
Use of our SSL Certificate:
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) allows the secure transmission of content from a
visitors browser to the server. A certificate is used to verify that the people
who are accepting the content are who they say they are. Each certificate is
associated with only one domain name.
All of our customers are welcome to use our SSL certificate, but most e-commerce
sites will want to use their own. The difference is the name on the certificate
and how your URL will look. Using our SSL the URL will need to start with interbax.net
instead of your domain name.
Password Protection: You will have the ability to password protect any areas of your site. In fact, you can password protect your whole website if you want.
Custom Error Pages: Error pages are pages that appear when a file (page) is not found. You will have the ability to create your own custom error pages to match the look of your site.
PHP4: A powerful server side scripting language commonly used in conjunction with MySQL.
Perl: A powerful server side scripting language. Most of our custom scripts are written in Perl.
Server Side Includes (SSI): Server Side Includes allow you to dynamically include data in your web pages using .shtml.
Nightly Off Server Tape Backups: All of our hosting plans come with guarantee nightly off server backup of all your files and databases. If we can not recover a requested file, then you will receive 3 months of hosting free. There is a $15 fee for every request made to recover your files so InterBax still strongly encourages that you make your own local backups.
24/7 Support: InterBax realizes that your website needs to be available at all times and that you as the administrator may need assistance at anytime. We have created a support service level agreement that guarantee our response time. See our SLA for more information.
30 Day Money Back Guarantee: All accounts come with a 30-day money back guarantee. If for any reason you are not happy with our services, we will refund all of your money.
Custom Scripts (installed for free by request): We have a selection of the more common scripts that you may want to use to make your website more interactive.
